RACE ONE

Haga Cranks It Up !!  Noriyuki Haga was flyin' in race one as he won in front of a record crowd at Laguna. On lap 2 Haga made a scary inside pass on Colin Edwards at the exit of the corkscrew, but Edwards was able to power past on the front straight. One lap later Haga pulled off the same pass... only this time it stuck. Once he took the lead Nori dominated the California track. Like clockwork he confidently clicked off lap after lap, sliding his Yamaha R7 down this hill and sideways " backing it in" to turn two.... eventually stretching out to a three-second win over Honda’s Edwards.
